Sunday Song

Matthew 7:7
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Many times in life we will find ourselves feeling as if we are at the end of ourselves.  Whether we are suffering physically, emotionally, or because of broken relationships, God is the steady force that will get us through all of it.  Christ understands all of those painful issues.  It is hard to give control over to a power we cannot see; however, usually what is holding us back is nothing more than the grip of pride.

If you really, honestly look back on times of struggle in your life, I bet you see God’s hand in helping you through them (even if they were times you did not actively seek God).

He doesn’t let go of us.

Sunday Song

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

I Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

When we feel weak, either physically or emotionally, God is there. We often don’t acknowledge it. I know, lately, I’ve been trying to be more aware of all that He does for me and express my gratitude for it. He is present in everything, and therefore, should be given His place in every aspect of my life.

When I struggle, feel alone, or having one of those “I suck beyond belief” days…God is always there, patiently waiting for me, loving me…unconditionally.

He has all of that love, patience, and strength to give to you, too. 🙂 Awesome, isn’t it?

Man beats woman with a cat

Wow.

A 49-year-old Hoboken man was arrested Tuesday after he beat his girlfriend with a cat and punched her in the back and back of her head, according to police reports.

Around noon, Hoboken police were dispatched to 300 Marshall Dr., and a 20-year-old Jersey City woman was crying and told police that her boyfriend punched her a few times and hit her with a “feline cat,” reports said. She said she had pain to her lower back and the back of her head, reports said.

It was almost a cat-astrohpe!  Thankfully, the man was arrested.

ESPN gives Nadal short shrift

Stay classy, ESPN:

ESPN abruptly halted its broadcast of Rafael Nadal’s trophy presentation at the U.S. Open on Monday night to begin pregame coverage of its late “Monday Night Football” game between the San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs. Enraged tennis fans took to Twitter to bash the network for the move.

At 10:14 p.m. ET, presentation emcee Bill Macatee cut-off Rafa’s interview mid-sentence. The first-time Open champion was then hastily given the winner’s check and trophy before the network quickly cut to Kansas City the instant Rafa hoisted the trophy in the air. There was no warning given to viewers and no alternate channel on which to watch the rest of the presentation.

This is a case of terrible treatment of Nadal, and even worse treatment for tennis fans – especially after a huge event like the U.S. Open.

SUNDAY SONG

Psalm 147

Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.

Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.

He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.

He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man; the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Extol the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion, for he strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.

He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.

He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.

He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes.

He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?

He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.

He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel.

He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD.
