Proverbs 17:9

Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

Matthew 22:37–39

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

I struggled with whether or not to address tomorrow’s holiday.  It is not the easiest of days for me for many reasons.  So, rather than dwell on a part of my life that seems non-existent, I’ll just post some thoughts about what I think love is. Hopefully, someday, my thoughts will be put into action.

Love is. . .

forgiveness and truly moving forward after a hurt.
accepting a person for what is/how that person is, encouraging that person’s potential, and allowing that person to evolve and grow at his/her own speed.
something that should never be taken for granted, and should be returned in greater amounts than received.
trying to see someone through God’s eyes…He loves us as-is.
