Many people mock those of us who have and express faith in God. It seems to be the “fashionable” thing to do these days.
I can tell you in all honesty that the hardest way to live is by faith. You have to give up a bit of control, and you have to be willing to believe and understand that you do not have the ability to make everything happen in life. Having faith also means that while you want to question, as we humans are apt to do, we must be ready to sit and wait for answers, and even then, sometimes answers do not come.
Arizona Representative, Gabby Giffords’ husband, Mark Kelly, has had to come to grips with all of this. It is easy to have all the dreams of marriage: bliss, love, children, and growing old together…but, as he learned, it doesn’t always happen that way. In those times, faith must take its place and be used to allow God to guide us through setbacks, and in Giffords’ and Kelly’s case, life-altering circumstances. Lord willing, Giffords will make a complete recovery and they will be able to live the dreams they had the day they were married.
In the following speech, Kelly discusses his personal path through his wife’s shooting and her recovery. It is worth viewing.
