Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. ‘He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
This week’s Sunday song might make you scratch your head. I’ve been thinking and praying about Brett Michaels a lot lately. It is kind of hard not to, especially given his many physical trials of late.
Michaels wrote this song after a friend, who worked on his tours, committed suicide. He was searching for answers, and as he sings, something to believe in. I’ve wondered if he is searching for God’s presence in everything he’s been through the past month. At the same time he is facing struggles for his health, he is also experiencing the most popularity he has had in a long time–two very opposite ends of things.
In this song he raises some questions about issues that trouble many: hypocrites, the guilt some people feel for doing their jobs in the military, greed, and trying to understand why folks take their lives.
We all struggle with faith and belief at times. Michaels, like any of us, needs God’s touch and grace on his life. God is there for us to believe in Him. We have to do it in faith, not just word.
Mr. Michaels: I pray you find God in all of this, and I hope He makes it clear to you that He is worthy and SOMEONE you can believe in. 🙂
