“But let him that glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD which exercise loving-kindngess, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight,” says the LORD. –Jeremiah 9:24
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. —1 John 4:16
How do define beautiful? I think when asked, we all think of outward beauty. However, there is something that outward beauty can never do: sacrifice, love, encourage and care. Usually, when those attributes are present, the beauty inside will leap out and become so much more important. The outward only goes so far, and it only lasts so long. The attributes become beauty.
We’ve been given a true model of beauty: Look at God’s creation above and on Earth. Read about His works on our behalf and on behalf of those who were written about in the Bible. Most importantly, open yourselves up to truly understand the love it took to sacrifice what He loved, so that we could have opportunity to not go through what Christ did. That, my friends, is true beauty.
As God completed each step of creation, He declared it “good.” Mankind, in its infinite and unfailing wisdom (/snark) did not assert it as “worthy and good,” God did. Only He can declare worth and purpose, and by Christ’s death and resurrection, we, the unworthy, were given worth and purpose by God. Can any human on Earth do that for you? (So don’t give them that power.) 🙂
“You’re Beautiful”—Phil Wickham
