Yesterday, when I was on my way home, I got to see this really pretty sunset.  The sky was purple, pink, and blue.  The picture really doesn’t do it justice; however, I hope you can see how the sun created silver outlines (linings) on the clouds that were breaking up at the end of the day.

As I sat at the red light and took this picture, the song “You are my beautiful my sweet, sweet song” by Third Day came on the radio.  It was just a very nice moment, and I thought I’d share.    Hope you all have a happy Tuesday!

There is a women’s clinic near where I grew up.  The other week, when I was going back and forth from the doctor, I drove by it.  Faithfully, everyday, rain or shine, there are a few people outside praying.  They never confront those going into the clinic, but they stand and pray.

When I was a young teenager, I was shown how an abortion is done.  There are several ways, all of which cause the baby pain, and are a trauma to the mother’s body.  The partial birth abortion wasn’t included, but a discussion of its use in China at the time was presented.

I realize people get themselves into situations in life and they feel like they need to make the choices they do.  I once thought I would have “a decision” to make a long time ago.  While I waited to see if that “decision” was in fact necessary, my first route was to begin looking into adoption options, since I was 3000 miles from home and didn’t want to upset my mother, who was battling lung cancer at the time.  I didn’t start researching those options because I am any better than anyone else faced with those decisions, I did so because I realized what abortion really is.

Again, I understand that many do not feel as I do and that abortions are legal.  I also can’t imagine how desperate the majority of the women are who have them.

That doesn’t change what they are, though.  Thankfully, I wasn’t faced with a hard decision, as it turned out I wasn’t pregnant.  But…think about the women who desperately turn to clinics like Planned Parenthood for options and answers, and get met with someone who has been told to “push” abortions, so that the bottom line is met.  Pondering that for a few minutes will give you an appreciation for THIS WOMAN’S epiphany.

So, it has been a while since I actually really wrote something for the blog, eh?  I’ve been really busy with work and feeling kind of not myself, lately.  Not sick, but just not myself.

I’ve been thinking, lately, about gratitude.  I tend to get anxious about some things every now and then:  needs, wants, and desires kinds of things.  A lightbulb usually goes off in my brain and reminds me of how blessed I am and that I am truly grateful for everything I have.

It makes me feel like a horse’s patootie, quite frankly.

There are so many folks in this country and around the world who lack basic necessities.  Depending on the circumstances and the geographic locations, the need varies.  However, I’ve been blessed, by God, to never know what it means to live under an overpass.  I’ve been blessed to not know how it feels to have surgery after surgery; treatment after treatment, like the many children in hospitals around this world.  I also do not know what it is like to fear for my safety because I worship God.

Sometimes I think we have it so easy that many of us take for granted everything our Father in Heaven has done for us, even when we haven’t made a request.  I’d be so lost without everything God has done, especially those things that He did to lay a path for me, so that I’d have “a hope and a future”  (Jeremiah 29:11).
How much better this world would be if more folks gave God His proper place, with a heart of gratitude for all He has done and will do?

I think I need to keep that in mind for myself.

Yesterday, I read a devotional that made me see the scripture in a new way.  You can read that devotional HERE.  I’ve included the passage as the scripture for this post.

God went to the depths to show us His love and protection.  He continues to do so.

I’m pretty beat, am watching the Phillies game, and I did I mention, I’m tired?

I have had a busy, frustrating week at school, and I haven’t had a chance to really give much thought to anything else.  In fact, this song pretty much sums things up for me this week.

As the world gets crazier, as our leaders seem to not value life or the voice of those they represent, just remember this simple and timeless truth:  God is on His throne, He reigns, keeps His promises, He provides, and He is in control.  The world might think it can do whatever it wants and follow its own will; however, there is ONE who cannot be moved, but is the One who moves mountains.
